But it's sooo much easier to get a high value guy when I feign initial passion, which isn't that hard in the early NRE stages.

Tell him you don't enjoy when he finishes before you. Instruct him to focus on YOU, before ol'boy goes to town.
Yes, you shouldn't "have to" tell him this. But with your firm guidance, he will learn, and obey.
Or, even better, tell him that you will focus on him after he has focused on you.
