Search for Maryland. You will find a whole bunch of MCPS ES, MS, and HS on there.

That is a website with a directory of schools that serve "a high concentration of low-income students" but this does not equal Title I. They don't state what concentration % they use, but it can't be that high because it includes schools like Blake and Earle B. Wood that only have 30% or so FARMS.

School systems receive more federal funds for title one schools. That money to support more admin and support teachers at title 1 schools. Title 1 is a federal designation. You can have elementary middle and high schools on the list. This is useful for teachers to know so that they can have students loans cancelled.

I just checked the title 1 list and Parkland listed is there:

That’s not how Title I schools work, and the link doesn’t function. MCPS receives funding for a certain number of Title I schools each year and the funds are allocated from highest percentage. I teach at a non-Title I school that is 63% FARMs.

These are the Title I schools in MCPS: http://www.montgomeryschoolsmd.org/departments/dtecps/title1/schools.aspx

Parkland is 50%
MVMS is 66.8%
Neelsville is 59.8%
White Oak is 60%
Loiederman is 58%
Argyle is 54%

None of these schools receive Title I funds.

We would have considered putting in for the Parkland lottery, but the county provides no transportation. No way to make that distance work!

Why do you say that? Montgomery Village MS has a significantly higher proportion of poor kids, and even it's not a Title I middle school. I don't think that there are any Title I middle schools in MCPS.

There are not any Title I middle schools currently, but there are a small number that are being monitored. If any DO go Title I, it would probably be MVMS, Neelsville, or White Oak. Definitely not Parkland, or any school with a magnet component.
