If she is a baptized Protestant, she would not get rebaptized to become Catholic. Only one Christian baptism is necessary, Catholic or Protestant.

Um, no. Exactly the opposite. Most women feel relief after abortion care, not regret. Regret about an unplanned pregnancy is not the same as regret about abortion care. Personally, i wish I had not gotten pregnant in college. (I wish I had not gotten drugged while at a bar and woken up with a stranger raping me the next morning, I wish he had not infected me with two STDs, I wish I did not have to live in terror of HIV afterward. I regret a lot about the pregnancy. But I don't for a minute regret the abortion. I am so grateful to the doctors and nurses who cared for me and for being able to end the pregnancy as soon as possible after discovering it. (I wish EC had been available then. I wish a medical abortion earlier had been available; instead I had to wait until a surgical abortion was possible at 6 weeks.)

I was Catholic then and I had no regrets then. I'm no longer Catholic and I have no regrets now. Study after study shows that most women who have abortions do not regret the abortion care. If they regret anything, most women regret being in circumstances which required abortion care, not the procedure itself. Vast differencez

I'm sorry, but until the Catholic Church fully cleanses itself of child abusers I wouldn't worry about a non-Catholic confessing about having an abortion. Over time I've moved from being pro-choice to only supporting very restrictive abortions but I'm still repulsed by the church's failure to fully cleanse itself. Yes, I'm a Catholic.

No, no one has to do anything. But remember that laying to the Church makes a sham of what would otherwise be a sacred sacrament. Don't expect a blessing.

Seriously? I'm lapsed Catholic and pro-choice but I find it highly doubtful that priests hear way worse. It's not like Ted Bundy is heading to confession for absolution. This is probably one of the worst things they hear from practicing Catholics.

If the RCIA candidate is not baptized she does not need to go to confession before the Easter Vigil. The baptism at the Easter Vigil will wipe away all sins. Starting after Easter she can begin to go to confession whenever she wants.

If she is already baptized then she needs to go to confession before the Easter Vigil. Her first confession will cover the time from her baptism until now. When she goes she should tell the priest that this is her first confession.

Once, in college, I was directed to just such a priest. That's when I gave up the idea of confession entirely.

This made me laugh "Catholic lifehacks." My personal favorite was to say "I'm sorry for everything I did that God didn't like" when I was a kid at confession because I was so scared of forgetting to confess something.
