I went there and think that the average student who graduates is very good at navigating life and handling their own stuff. A certain kind of grit that is good to have. However, most students are from Ohio and stay in Ohio. It is a good school that serves the state well. I wouldn't pay OOS dollars for it.

I wouldn’t go there if someone paid for it, in state or out.

PP here. Ok. I went there. Not for everyone. It is a huge school and many people would get lost in the shuffle. For me, it was good. But I have always been pretty indepedent and able to handle myself. They gave me a lot of $. I went on to law school and then biglaw. Excellent ROI for me.

When I was on campus (NOT as a student, but as the friend of a grad, I must hasten to add), I was literally dodging thrown beer bottles after what must have been, to the unwashed masses, an unbearable football loss. Character building.

No idea. Lots of people come in for the games and kind of act like animals. They shouldn't allow non-students in. They are uncouth. I didn't go to football games. Much too barbaric.

Yep, went to a state school and couldn't get into a top school. And I probably make more than most of those who did go to a top school.

Seriously, if you're forking out OOS for OSU, then either your are nuts or thats the best you kid can get into.

I think you underestimate the number of kids who want to get away from this region (and the children of people like you) and the parents willing to send their kids to schools in the Midwest where the other students are a bit less status-obsessed.

If you want to send your kid to OSU then do it - why the need to seek validation from an anonymous internet forum.
