I've got a teen DD that was worried she was a loser until she figured out she's an introvert, and embraced that. She's much happier.

She's got one best friend--tricky because they go to different schools and now their club sports team has aged out, so I try and do what I can to facilitate them getting together.

She has one neighborhood friend and that one just told us the family is planning to move and I almost posted on here because of course if you've only got two eggs in the basket and one is leaving the basket, ugh!!!!

But bottom line is these kids go deep with friendships and that is their style (mine, too) and have to learn to deal with the downsides of that, just as extroverts with tons of friends have to deal with the downsides of that (e.g. drama that inevitably comes when juggling many relationships)

I think she is over scheduled.

She's a teenager. They say random stuff all the time. And a little smugness and hubris are both completely age-appropriate, too. Nothing to worry about.

To me, it sounds like she's a socially-engaged introvert who doesn't need to defend her desire for downtime. But she's trying to put words around it anyway, probably to reassure her mom that she's fine. Good kid!
