What are other aftercare options?

Reading this thread makes me very happy with our school with its homegrown aftercare and principal who a is hands off because it runs smoothly.

My kids weren't happy with LAP.

I was shocked at the coldness and disorganization around aftercare pick up. I felt like I was picking my four year old up from prison with all the lines and waits and radio calls and jerseys.

This is our first year at layfayette and the coldness of the drop off - they just whisked the kids away, didn't even let parents accompany them to their room and unpack their supplies - and the pick up has me very concerned that we made a bad choice.

LAP refused to expand, there was a huge waitlist and space was not an issue.

The control issues are legit questions but LAPs screwups shouldn't be forgotten.

All of that, and there is no snack. For the amount we're paying, they should be able to go to Costco and get some snacks.

Good points. Also pick up is a mess (under the guise of safety). Unfortunately the outside vendor model is not conducive to improving it.

The most consistent objection is the vests they have to wear when outside. I saw them today and they are ridiculous; at best they are reminders for kids not to stray to far and at worst they are signals to predators that these kids are a part of a loosely supervised group. My kids also complain that they are hot and smell bad.

It has met my expectations (which were admittedly low). It is what it is... aftercare not enrichment

I'm not sure how they were selected, but they are clearly not up to the task and their problems are just starting.
