I made my own baby food and always had it on hand. How hard is it to puree some carrots and stick them in an ice cube tray? Freeze and defrost as necessary.
Yeah, if you don't want to make it, then don't. But it's really simple to make a few batches of purees and keep them in the freezer. Especially if you're on a tight budget.

It isn't gross if you cook it with other things (veggies, broth, spices). I would whip up a pan of chix breast, diced, simmered with carrots, parsnips, finely diced green onions, etc. When cooked, shred the chix, then freeze. DH used to eat a lot out of the pan before I could get it into the freezer pouches.
For OP, I don't have specific suggestions because I made all my kids' food but it seems you are best served by shopping the grocery store specials and stocking up.
