I agree with you. Jim Acosta is an ass. He doesn’t know how to ask a question without it sound accusatory or inflammatory.
Jim Acosta is the very reason they have off-camera briefings. He is a “prima donna” in journalism.

Jim Acosta asked questions and Steven Miller said he "made statements" and "made accusations" and said Acosta was "advocating things." The right wingers will pick up on what Miller did and say the lefty NYT is saying X, Y, and Z when they did no such thing--Miller was repeatedly and openly putting words in his mouth. On camera, in a room full of reporters. I mean, if you are going to lie about your interactions with reporters, you probably shouldn't have those interactions in a room full of people with notebooks and recorders.

In other words, Trump wants to model our immigration laws on those of Canada.

Explain why you hate Canada.

That's not entirely true. Both Canada and Australia allow elderly parents to immigrate, which this bill does not.

it has a special visa for elderly parents that allows them to live here.

so for how many millennia do we need to accept every single person because we turned them way? btw, weren't they highly educated or something? or are we supposed to give preference to those who have uncle's uncle in the US, the way we do now?

perhaps. did you come here as refugees? there will still be 50k of those here.

in any case, your parents did well but you are not all that special. i am an immigrant, too. my husband and are very productive, skilled members of society, but, let's be honest, it's not like it would be a devastating loss for the USA if we were not here.

Just the opposite. Steven Miller could barely disguise his racist views. And his claim that because one has to speak English to naturalize, immigrants seeking green cards should have to speak English too a was bullshit argument, and he knows it. Immigrants learn English here. "Ahistorical" my ass. Afactual is more like it. Miller is a faux intellectual mean-spirited jerk. Trump only hires the best people !

PP on this. And I'm not saying I disagree with this immigration policy. And Canada rocks (Justin Trudeau vs Trump-- no contest). I'm trying just to figure out why Trumpkins are in favor of it after all the hype about how Trump was going to get rid of H1B (high skilled worker) visas. There was a lot of Trump anti H1B rhetoric. Now they want to expand high skilled immigrants.

Why the change?

I’ll speak up as a conservative.
Our country was founded on immigrants. Nothing wrong with immigration. If we are going to accept immigrants, why not accept the best and brightest instead of those who happen to knock on our doors? Lets put some meaningful criteria in place. Immigration is not going to stop. It never was... and we all knew that (despite what the left has been saying). And, since it is not going to stop, let’s make sure those coming can speak English AND support themselves. Pretty simple, really.

Quite a change to the Trumpkin tune.
