Does your DD's school have a counselor? Was your DD in contact with that person? Could you contact that person?

Have you contacted the parents of DDs friends to get to know them? Are you confident that there is responsible oversight when she goes to friend's houses?

Do you require your DD to apprise you of where she is and who she is with?

Does your DD have responsibilities and expectations to meet at home?

Do you have regular family meetings to discuss issues that have come up in your household?

I will echo some of the advice you have gotten here. I would recommend meetings with a therapist, because you are concerned about changes in your DD's behavior, appearance, and grades. Those are indicators of some kind of stress, maybe even trauma (bullying or sexual assault, for example). You might want to consider therapy for the family as a whole.

Good luck, OP. As someone whose DD is currently in residential treatment, I will add that there are a lot of good treatment options out there--all VERY expensive, to be sure, but necessary in some instances.

NP. Assuming OP is for real, some of you sound flat-out nuts.

You say she was an A student at a Big 3 school. It's entirely possible that the stress and anxiety just finally got to her. It's pretty common.

Ship your daughter off to a behavioral camp, it seems as if her behavior has gotten too much to handle for a seemingly single parent.

I'd take her to a psychiatrist and try to get some sort of diagnosis so I could invoke FMLA, if there are 2 working parents. If one parent is SAH, it is easier. And then I LITERALLY would be with her 24/7 while she was in intensive therapy and treatment. Sleep in the same room. Sitting outside the bathroom with the door cracked while showering. NO PHONE. She can't get together with her friends if she can't contact them.

I'd follow the therapists advice, assuming I felt I'd found a good one (keep looking if not), but this is the time for nuclear action.
