Can't believe you think Dukem is gross - what's gross about it? It's my favorite! We always get the #2 special tibs and one of the combo platters and it's amazing.

I second Enatye near Dulles. We tried a few and they are my favorite. Also, for the celiac PP, they have the freshest gluten free injeras (you have to request it).

Bumping this old thread to see if there are any changes to recommendations?

DH and I want to have a low key delicious anniversary dinner. Ambiance is not as important as the food.

Some ideas
Dukem - https://www.dukemrestaurant.com/content/little-ethiopia-takes-root-dc

Meleket -https://www.meleketrestaurant.com/menu-1

Try the kitfo raw if you're feeling adventurous.

This is my favorite place too!

They have a second location in Arlington, near Columbia Pike (where Walter Reed Drive and Glebe Road cross each other) called 14th Lalibela. It's just as good as the original. Also does carryout.

We like askale in Brookland. They have gluten free all Teff injEra but you have to ask for it and pay a little extra. They also gave rice available.
