I had a double growing up, and my first year at camp (I was 10) I rolled right off the top bunk in the middle of the night. I had a big black eye the next day to show for it, too! hahaha. Every year someone would roll off the bunks....no one got hurt that I recall but it might be a deterrent for your DD.
I still chose the top every year so it didn't deter me much. The top is fun!
Uh, weren't there railings? I've never seen a top bunk without a railing.
Uh, have you ever seen bunk beds outside of an IKEA or a PBK catalog? Summer camp is bare bones. No crib rails.
