Op here. He said he lost his phone Saturday morning ( on his way to run a 5k) and didn't get it a replacement until today because he was in a we didn't yesterday ( already knew about it). He called me once he got home from getting his new phone. He apologized for making me worry, etc., and we set up another date for this week. I am going to be cautious but still want to give him a chance because I do like him.


I do not believe that for a second...he's playing you with a story like that.

This. I slept with everyone whenever I felt like it. My LTRs were two first dates (4 years and 9 years) and a third (marriage). It's the preoccupation with rules that sinks too many of these things -- either you guys have it, or you don't.

Op here. He didn't pressure me into it. I don't normally sleep with a guy until at least date 5 but we were both tipsy and it just happened. No one to blame. It just sucks if that's all he was after. I guess good to know now before I invested more time in him.

If he was after sex why would he only want one round with a willing woman?

You said it was good not great, maybe he thought it wasn't bad but not good?

I suspected you might be a little quick with the OP. Its understandable that dating is stressful in any decade. Relax as best you can and let the relationship evolve.

On a side note, after reading comments from others, considering the fist time with my wife on date 3 was somewhat quick, im glad she gave me a few more observations before making a conclusion.

Honestly it's nothing YOU did or didn't do. It's that guy being an asshole. The only "holding out" rule of thumb is to help us women try to weed out the aholes. So hold your head proud, you weren't in the wrong. He just wasn't the right guy nor a gentleman.
