I agree. Too close to Gabrielle.

They sound completely different. Unless you are a moron.

I think it sounds feminine. Sorry if you don't like that.

I agree with Gabriel sounding feminine. I wouldn't do that to a boy. I know too many Gabrielles--and tbh many pronounce it like Gabriel. And I absolutely loath gabe.

I love Lucas, but prefer just Luke.

Gabriel is very nice.

I am not at all a fan of Lucas.

?

When you say it in Spanish, it is literally pronounced Gabrielle...exactly like the girl's name.

Neither.

Lucas rhymes with mucus. It also reminds me of locusts (probably from the movie Lucus).

Luca is better.

Gabriel will inevitably be shortened to Gabe...which is a great name for an old Jewish man, but not a great name for a Spanish baby.

There are millions of better names.

np I don't think Gabriel sounds feminine at all but, I have to ask you if we are naming girls James, Michael, Blake etc ( which sound and are masculine) what is wrong with a male with a "girl sounding name?" Look at Lin Manuel Miranda and Leslie Odom Jr. You can't say they aren't male and they have both done very well for themselves!

Gabriel, definitely.

When I hear people say it sounds feminine, I just think they're kind of dim. Sorry not sorry.

Lucas is ok, but not my favorite.

These are two of my favorite names and they were both on my short list before my husband vetoed them. (We also wanted a bilingual name.)
We ended up deciding on Andres if we had a boy.
Alas, we had a girl.

I don't think you can go wrong! I would probably go with Lucas because I think the Spanish and English pronunciations are more similar than the Spanish/English pronunciation of "Gabriel".
