Same here, my husbands ex-girlfriend was about 5'10" brilliant and beautiful with a CS degree and working for one of the big software companies out there. Not that it matters but she was also African American, and I am not. She dumped him when she moved to new job and I think he regrets not relocating to be with her.

From what I understand she was a real b*tch. Kind of horsey in the face. But we do look somewhat alike in terms of coloring, body type, and in some photos I can see a general "look" that matches up. I feel like I won in both categories, so, hooray?

I know we have a similar sense of humor and our mothers are very similar, down to their fashion sense and personality.

I try not to think about it?

My husband's exes tended to be mousey, bookish/downright nerdy, Jewish women - just like his mom. I've met many of them and have liked them all (I also love my MIL). Some are good family friends to this day. I'm the polar opposite - athiest, ethnic, sassy. He wanted to get away from Judaism.

We share some basic physical and personality attributes . DH definitely has a "type". She dumped him when he was a PhD student with no money to marry a doctor (she is a nurse). She wanted the big house, marriage, and baby by 30. He doesn't speak negatively about her, but it's clear that money is a factor in getting dumped. I don't think he pines for her or anything. They are Facebook friends and the stuff she posts make it pretty clear that they weren't a life match. Yes, I've peeked at her profile, I'm extremely nosy.

I am friends with my DH's ex, in fact all three of us were friends a long time ago. But she moved away many years ago and we talk very infrequently now. This was before him and I started dating.

I will be honest, I feel threatened by her. She is accomplished, smart and interesting. I think I'm prettier, for what it's worth. But they had great chemistry and I KNOW he had strong feelings for her. Then they broke up when she moved south, and many years later I started going out with him. If she moved back I would probably not be happy at all to have her around.

She is perfectly nice, and more accomplished than I am. DH and I are casually friendly with her and her husband. They're a nice couple. I probably wouldn't be super close friends with her - she's a little bit intense for my taste - but as a casual friend to get together with a few times a year, she's great.

I've met one or two briefly...one is a total hood rat, she has 7 kids now. Don't know WHAT he was thinking but he dodged a bullet! Another one sent us a baby gift and seems pretty accomplished, and they're still friends, but I've never met her in person. I'm not the skinniest or a total knockout but I think he did OK.
