It's not that hard, really. Post a reminder on your calendar 2 weeks before each birthday and have it automatically repeat every year. Done.

What calendar? What if they do not use an electronic version. What if they switch devices and it does not carry over. What if thet only use a flip phone.

It gets easier to be tolerant of people when you start tomrealize not everyone lives thier life like you do. It is just as easy for you to call the grandparents to remind them.

Because she is putting expectations in her kids head about what the grandparents will do. I do not expect anyone to remember my sons bday.

Pick up the phone and call them. People forget things. I hate these "victim" syndrome people. And no way a 4 year old is sad without parents talking about it.

It's hard when you don't live close. "Out of sight, out of kind" and all that. I'm a scatterbrain so I can relate to the grandparents. I don't think I'd purposely try to make them feel bad about it, but in your next conversation mention that he had a nice birthday party and you wish you could've been there and whatnot. If they care, they'll probably feel sorry and either send a belated card or make it an extra point to remember next year. If not, then you just have to accept it.
