I'm not going to lie, the whole gender selection thing weirds me out a little, but that's a personal opinion and I think people should be able to decide, especially since our country doesn't have a gender imbalance. I know plenty of couples that have 4 or 5 kids just trying to get a different gender. I guess choosing is better than having a tons of kids and making your previous ones feeling unwanted in your attempts just to get that girl or boy.

I think the thing to consider when doing this is that what ifs. Are you going to regret putting in a less quality embryo (yes, I know lab grading doesn't necessarily mean anything) if it ends up not being successful or ending in a MC (it still happens with PGS normal embryos).

Also, I'd say respect your husband's wishes if he really doesn't want to. Even if you really want to choose, you not getting what you wants puts you in the same position as 99.9% of the population. Him not getting his wishes puts him in an odd position of potentially thinking he has made a designer baby.

I'm 100% for having the staff choose randomly. I loved the magic of surprise. Two of the coolest experiences of my life were the days we found out 1) the genders of our twins (at 20 week ultrasound) and 2) gender of our third child (at delivery). Pure magic!!!

I am not even going to waste my time, we are doing PGS specifically so we can have another girl. I have always wanted two girls. So that's what I will have.

I'd be very worried that I was playing God too much. I know this isn't objectively how things work, but I'd worry I'd end up with daughters who despise each other, a butch lesbian (assuming you want a pretty little blond girl with a bow), etc etc etc.

you realize its a tiny fraction of families who do this? no need to catastrophize it in context of greater good. In case of donor eggs with PGS you get to select donor characteristics and gender of baby on top of that.

This is way too close to the many countries that have messed up their gender mix (at the population level) due to social norms that favor boys. Nature is usually healthier. So do I V F if you can afford it, but don’t go for designer families. It leads down a bad path for the greater good.

I agree with you. I didn't get to choose either and wanted a second girl but had a boy. Wouldn't trade him for the world, obviously. But I don't have a huge problem if you want to decide for yourself. Except for the husband issue. Do you think maybe he really wants a boy deep down?
