Our 8th graders are moving on to high school! In lieu of an actual ceremony, the students will walk to Whitman for a tour and a celebratory luncheon in the courtyard.

2 of my kids attended MCPS middle schools - years ago. Westland did not have a ceremony and Farquhar did.

It is absolutely not true to suggest that "many" students in Wheaton do not even attend high school. The drop out rate may be higher than in more affluent parts of the county, but it is inaccurate to suggest that many students do not go beyond 8th grade.


+1. I mean....they just built a brand new Wheaton HS because they had outgrown the old building.

There's no need to put "graduation" in quotes, you know. People certainly did used to graduate from 8th grade. It was the end of elementary school. Remember where Sarah in All-Of-A-Kind Family graduates from 8th grade and doesn't win the history prize?



That's nice but it hasn't been a graduation in quite a while. Everyone must be college and career ready now.
