I think I'd just find someone to sit with the baby at home...but that's me.
My own mother permed my hair starting when I was 2 years old. It was the early 80's after all. My hair was a ridiculous, frizzy mess from about age 2-6. She gave not a thought to the chemicals, and even permed her own hair while pregnant.

OP here. I'm sure the DCUM world will get a kick out of this but I actually wanted to get a straight perm. Asian women sometimes straight perm their already straight hair to get it silky straight. My hair is naturally kind of frizzy. I had not gotten my hair done for almost a year so I was long overdue.
I ended up getting a sitter but when I was at the salon, I was thinking that it probably would have been fine to bring the baby.

Better yet, photoshop the permed hair on to your baby! That's what we all came for!

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:so a perm is actually a term for straightening?
Perm is just a chemical treatment to change the texture/wave of your hair. I'm sure OP just said perm to simplify the question (indicating chemical treatment) rather than people assuming it was straightening with an iron.
