A year later, during my two year review, he says: "I thought I told you to go find another job. How's that coming?"
I told him how I felt and I was fired. I'm on my third career job since and my skills and experience are appreciated. His remarks bothered me for years (I felt for years I was on the verge of being fired for the smallest error). I'm just now getting over them.
I understand that this was very hurtful to you but I would have taken it as him trying to tell you not to waste your time at that company. I have had a former boss tell me that she loved my work but there was no upward mobility for me. She also helped me find other opportunities and he clearly didn't but I don't see anything wrong with him telling you that you were doing a good job but there was no future there.

One boss said "Hey fatso" almost everyday while I was pregnant.
Another one told me I said "I" too much instead of "we"

I once worked at a small design firm for a crazy. So many things. My favorite is that she told me that was developing too good of a rapport with my clients and that I was overshadowing her. She fired me 2 weeks later.

During a performance review, I was told they were disappointed that I didn't do more to get out of grand jury duty, which kept me away from the office for about 5 weeks.

Mine made a lot of comments about my pregnancy and thought they were hilarious. "Can't be putting her on TV in a few months, she'll be huge!" (then proceeded to demonstrate how "huge" I'd be...in front of my whole team).
Later when I was way more huge, like 36 weeks at an out-of-town conference, he made another comment about how big I was- like, "yeah, you really are very big now." A coworker scolded him and he gave me a lame "but you look great!"
Behind my back I've seen emails denigrating me, but he never said those things to my face.
