I suggest looking on Zappos under style="Comfort." From there you can select the category "flats" or whatever you want and occasion="office and career." That will help point you in the direction of some brands that have more support or cushioning. Or you can look on footsmart for some brands that tend to work better for problem feet.

I like and have good luck with Cobb Hill, Aerosoles, Propet, and sometimes Trotters which tend to come in wide sizes, if needed. My current every-day black shoe for work is actually from Sketchers. They are so plain that I don't think they draw attention to themselves, so they work in my pretty casual office.

You probably don't want a perfectly flat shoe. Everything I've read says that a little heel or wedge is better for you.

I don't currently see them on the website, but I've been wearing the Justinna flat from 9West for about 4 years now as a go-to every day work shoe. They are an incredibly soft leather, so no time needed to break in. I am uncomfortable in very thin flats (like Tieks) so I've really appreciated the relatively thick rubber sole, with rubber cushioning and some think padding inside. They are round toes, but there is a silver buckle on them, which I think makes them look dressy enough for an average work day. They've held up to very long metro walks in all sorts of weather and generally last about 1/5-2 years per pair. I've been buying them in silver, which basically acts like an all year-round neutral. I'm horrified to find them no longer on the website. I actually just took them on a mini vacation and was walking about 8 miles a day in them (up and down hills and cobblestones) and my feet feel good. I hope they're just not available for the season and that they come back....

Why?

They don't look professional. You'll look like a 10-year-old.

Clarks, as I am using them and they are comfortable.

Have you tried Rothy's? I love mine.

Even my best friend with bunions and PF loves her Rothy's.

I just bought these. A little out of your budget, but I love them and have been looking for black flats for a few years.

I love my Tieks!

How shoes fit varies so much. Tieks are my go-to black flats.

Same. They just work so well for me. And I got all of mine in 2013-2014 and they're all still in good shape.

I recently bought these, and they have much more support than my previous flats (Cole Haan, Repetto): http://www.zappos.com/p/geox-d-lola-16-black-leather/product/8004486/color/72
