It will be DH's choice, but we don't tend to go all out for Mother's or Father's Day. We have so many kid activities and sports going on that we shoehorn in brunch or a nice dinner plus gifts and dessert. I'll ask him for gift suggestions but if he doesn't have any we will get him some nice summer clothes/shoes.

whatever he wants--a day off to go rock climbing, or some fun family stuff, whatever. But the morning will start with breakfast, the sunday paper, the gym, etc. Maybe we'll grill, or make lobsters, etc. Honestly, the idea of all of us together having fun an entire day--no work, no errands no birthday parties--is huge. I had to work all day yesterday.

Different poster here, and nope, this is what my DH says to me every Father's Day. The only gift he really wants is free!

I'll get up with the kids both days of the weekend and I'll make whatever he requests for brunch on Sunday. We're going to a BBQ in the afternoon. Older kid will make him a card. He mentioned wanting to go to the driving range one of the days, which will probably have to be Saturday due to the BBQ, so I'll watch the kids while he does that.

We agreed on cards, homemade gifts from kids, and take-out for both Mother's Day and Father's Day. For his day, I'll through in a little action as well, so he should be happy.

We do special breakfast/gifts with just us and the kids in the AM and then always big family lunch/dinners with our moms/dads/extended families on both Mother's Day and Father's Day.

Taking my DH on a trip but it's also his birthday so there's a surprise side trip to a particular country that I know he'll enjoy visiting. No kids!!

Dad here. Unless it's freakishly hot, like 105 degrees, this doesn't sound appealing to me at all. An hour? Sure. A day? In June? No...... But to each his own.


OP here - it wouldn't be for me either, but it isn't my special day.

Probably nothing, same as he did for me for Mother's Day. This was agreed upon beforehand, so we're actually both totally ok with it. We'll probably do what we normally do on a Sunday - cook up some breakfast and then go do something fun before and after naptime. The usual.
