I think we may live in the same area! It is sad. There seem to be plenty of white people in my neighborhood but many of them are elderly and if they are young enough to have kids, send their kids to private schools. Mine will be going to public though!
Why is it sad? Seriously. White people are not endangered. It cracks me up to hear white people lamenting this given their historic lack of empathy for, say, Native Americans who they almost completely wiped out. There are plenty of y'all. Calm down.
I am the original PP, It is sad that white people dont want to send their kids to school because there are more black kids. That to me is sad.
Don't overreact. I don't know what part of Moco obviously but I live in Moco and imagine the kind of influx the original PP mentioned is generally new immigrant Hispanic. Immigrants historically always concentrate while the "natives" flee, esp. on the coasts. That's what heavy immigration looks like.

I've basically stopped caring about residential segregation and I'm black. I'm more focused on making sure there are jobs and public areas where people are drawn together from their various segregated neighborhoods. Most people are just weak and only feel safe living among people who look like them.

Atlanta's boom has cononcided with the boom in it's white population. Like DC just did, ATL will be under 50% black in a year or two and sits about 53% currently after falling from the mid 60s just a few years ago.
The Atlanta metro area will remain heavily black. It's a fairly sprawling place, more like LA than DC.
The suburbs will for sure but that is sort of the effect we are talking about.
Except it doesn't really matter when the "city" is so suburban anyway. And Atlanta's economic success is tied to its job base. It doesn't matter whether the its workers are living in the city or commuting from the cities. The Atlanta area will stay very black and succeed.
