I'm 46 and grew up in a family very similar to Roseanne's, again in Baltimore. Maybe the difference is that it became more evident to people on the coasts that manufacturing and mills were not long for this country and we've already moved on?


She's not assuming anything about your dad in baltimore. She's just saying that Lanford, Illonis is a vital part of who Dan Conner is. That town and the people in that town is the whole point of the show.

I'm disappointed that there will be an update/remake/ add on episodes. I'd like to remember Rosanne in it's heyday -- which for me is season 1-3...

Same. My dad wasn't blue collar, but Dan Connor embodies the men in my extended family to a T. The only other "struggling" Dad character I can think of is Bryan Cranston on Malcolm in the Middle, but he didn't seem relatable to me.
