Unless you're literally 1 or 2 on the waitlist, don't expect anything. Myschool is designed to correctly match people with their preferences, and that means that people are unlikely to reject spots in large numbers. The only place you'll see movement is for schools that people put as "safeties" where they really won't consider going (eg Appletrees).

Theoretically, that's true. However, there was a lot of movement on the Lee waitlist over the past two years. There was also some movement at ITS (~15 slots). Perhaps this year will be much tighter.

HD Cooke or Bethune at 16th St?

For PK4. These are our bottom two choices. We like the small size of Bethune but worry about the lack of indoor recreational space. We didn't get to visit HD Cooke but like that it's within walking distance.

Know several families waitlisted at various charters for 5th grade with little movement as yet.

Was this how it was last year? Wonder how the movement compares.

Check the data tables here https://public.tableau.com/profile/aaron2446#!/vizhome/MSDCSeatsandWaitlistOfferData/MSDCPublicDisplay

In 2016 for BASIS' 5th grade, the most movement happened between June and August.

Breakthrough is the only school (pk3) I've seen movement. We've dropped 10 in the last week. Granted we are still in the 80's

Almost no Basis movement yet.

The waitlists for those schools might not move at all.

How can you do this? Does your school have no WL and open spots still?

Put ourselves on the wait list Post-lottery and our IB preference put us near the top of the list. Was offered a seat May 2.

Has been an incredibly stressful and time-consuming (thought-consuming) decision, but we are opting for our IB (EOTP) school. Maybe we will regret it later, but convenience plus comfort with the IB school were the major drivers.

Based on my experience with WLs for PK3 and PK4, I don't think you should expect to see much movement at all for the more popular schools. Likely those were top choices, and lottery winners will take all the spots. I only saw movement on the lower tier schools (Appletrees etc). I expect there will be even less movement in K when people don't even have the alternative to stay in daycare and have to take their match.

Our PK3 WL numbers (at 9 schools) have not moved in either direction. We are 12 at one school and had hoped by Sept. or even mid-Sept. things would work out but are doubtful now.
