who are you guys using, not sure about name dropping on here but one well known in NOVA in particular did a TERRIBLE job a few years ago for me, left a gritty film in my showers and tubs...bathrooms is all I care about really and they screwed them up!

Could you post a burn email? I will send you info on my cleaning person. If you don't want to do that, just find a neighborhood listserve (could be a listserve or a mom group off of Yahoo or Bigtent) or sign up for the free Nextdoor app where neighbors ask for recommendations for anything and everything (landscapers, doctors, sitters, cleaners). I got my cleaner from a mom group. Referring person was a stranger to me, but cleaner has been awesome. If you don't want to do any of that either, I see ads on Craigslist or Care.com for cleaners and housekeepers.

Even once a month makes a big difference. We have 2 kids under 5. When my second child turned 15 months, with all the food messes he made, we changed it t to every three weeks. If I could afford more, I would do every 2 weeks.

Ask around your neighborhood or look for people unloading vacuums from their cars. We have a lady who comes twice a month. $100/visit, Cape Cod on Arlington.

I have a friend who does! She says the sheets are so much nicer that way. I didn't notice a difference, but all of my sheets are non-iron, so maybe hers are not.

Thanks. My SIL has one of those except the one she has is a full time housekeeper/nanny. It is petty pricey. I don't get jealous of much but I am green with envy at that.

It's pretty much the ultimate luxury and since we don't have childcare costs or private school expenses. She gives me back hours and hours of our lives and we eat healthier and probably save money on not dining out.

I'm a big proponent of any dual working couple (with or without kids) getting a cleaning person.

Life's too short to spend your weekends cleaning. $20-$30/hour for a cleaning person is some of the best money ever spent.

I've had a bi-weekly cleaning person for 15+ years now- I would rather eat ramen noodles than cancel my cleaning person.

I want to go up to a weekly cleaning (we have 3 kids), but my DH insists bi-weekly is enough,

We have your HHI, but only 2 kids and about double the square feet. Cleaners come every other week/$165 a week. I often wish I could justify bumping it up to every week. We didn't get them until after kid #2 and I often wonder why we waited so long. Best money I spend.

A deep clean (scrubbing grout, washing windows, etc) we have done 2x a year and that runs around $300.

I have a similarly sized townhouse and have a house cleaner come every 3-4 weeks. I hate cleaning the bathrooms and this is really the only reason I pay for a cleaning person. I considered having them come every 2 weeks, but I hate having to pre-clean (like take things off the counters) and then sit here while they clean my house. Regular cleanings cost $150. I've done one deep cleaning in the past few months and it cost $225.

PP said what, not when. In my experience deep cleanings involve moving furniture to get to spots that don't normally get cleaned, cleaning blinds, cabinets, oven, fridge, and detailing rather than just cleaning in the bathroom. My last house cleaner charged an extra $80 or so to add a couple of those things to any one cleaning, which I thought was a bit ridiculous (seriously, an extra $80 to clean the oven). My new house cleaner has a schedule for the house that means each of those tasks gets taken care of every couple of months (and the oven/fridge is every visit). You just have to talk to whoever you hire and make sure you're on the same page.
