This year (16-17) they have 47 PK3 and 55 Pk4 students enrolled, so 60 is not that huge a jump.

But I mean what happens later do they expand upper level classrooms too?

Yes - they're still below their approved enrollment threshold.

And montessori is different by being mixed age, so I'm assuming unless they have six primary environments, their primary classes tilt towards the younger end.

CMI offered more seats in more grades than last couple of years.

Looks like they grew PK3 size. Quite a few seats offered in 5th. Are parents peeling off to Latin/BASIS?

PK3 did not expand in 17-18; 5th and 6th grades did.

PP - I meant PK3 did not expand by adding another class. It's possible 1 or 2 seats per class may have been added, but I don't know for sure.

Comparing CMI 16-17 to 17-18

16-17 round 1

PK3 50 seats
Pk4-->5th 0 seats
6th 25 seats

17-18 round 1

Pk3 55 seats
Pk4 4 seats
K 5 seats
1st 1 seat
2nd 1 seat
3rd 0
4th 0
5th 14 seats
6th 19 seats
7th 3 seats

They did the same thing in round 1 last year. And ultimately offered seats to 15 on the WL for PK4 and 39 for K.

As described above for Breakthrough and SWW @ FS, some schools are very conservative in their projections (which are what Round 1 seats offered are).

Schools don't know how many students will leave until after the May 1 deadline, and on through the summer. So some schools, like DCB, make no seats available in the initial round and will go to its wait list as spots open.

Last year they only offered 10, the year before 5.

Are they growing the high school or experiencing more attrition?

I would like to know this as well. We attend and plan to enroll for HS.

If you attend, then ask the school about the numbers and share with the rest of us ; )

They always expand at K.

7 last year, 34 year prior. Explanation more complex than "they always do".

Prepping for their oddly timed, not announced to families, less than 1.5 miles away second campus?

Doesn't look like it -

That school proposes to open with PK3, PK4 and K in 2018-19.
