I love Hawaii but the first few days were so awful...
This is similar to our worst, which was San Francisco with kids ages 1 and 3. They're early risers, and the first night they woke up at 3 am. We couldn't get them back to sleep because we were in a hotel and couldn't let them cry. We didn't have breakfast food and the three year old was starving, but nothing was open near the hotel, so he ate a bunch of crap from the vending machine. And while we could let the three year old watch the ipad to stay entertained, the one year old had to be closely watched and entertained in a hotel room that wasn't baby proofed and of course we only had a few toys. In the evenings, they were cranky by 3 pm, dinner was by 4 and we were stuck in a dark hotel room by 6.
By the time they adjusted to the time change and slept until 6 am, the trip was over.
There was also the time our air conditioning broke in our car at the start of a 5 hour road trip in August. In a black car. Stuck in traffic in the Bronx. Then DS barfed in his car seat, which I got to clean out in a sweltering burger king parking lot. We tried to take refuge at a movie theater, but as soon as we sat down, the fire alarm went off, so the theater was evacuated to the hot parking lot. After the second alarm, we bailed and just made the Damn drive.

What ages were your kids on this trip? (Thinking of going)
Not pp, but I took my kids at 5 and 12 and it was one of our best trips!

Anonymous wrote:Our worst vacation was Disney in Orlando...god-awful hot, loooooong lines, at the time Magic Kingdom seemed very dated and run down. My kids didn't even recognize Minnie mouse, and felt the Narnia experience was "weird, like a long commercial". Never been back...
Next worst was Wyndham in Freeport, Bahamas. That was such a horrile experience, bad food, no hot water, that we left the "All Inclusive" for another hotel
Best places while young: Niagara Falls, Costa Rica rainforest lodge by Arenal
Best places in the teens: Tanzania and London

Best Costa Rica: brilliant outdoor vacation with masses to do in a beautiful country.

Worst was Disneyworld. It wasn't terrible, and I am glad we did it once, but I just don't get why people rave about it. It was nothing special, and we have had more enjoyable vacations at a much cheaper price.
I was going to post worst was WDW. It was special... ONCE. I don't understand why people go back every year.
So you don't understand why people enjoy different things than you do? We go every other year and wish we could go more frequently. All 4 of us love it.
