Neither of you are taking into consideration that the HB kids can do all of those things at their base schools. They can play sports if they choose.
As the population grows, having all those kids competing for spots at only 3 schools will make participation in (important for college) extracurriculars not an option for most of the students.
Oh totally. That's why I don't think the career center is a good choice. We need a fourth FULL school.

Won't the decision on the 4th school be made BEFORE the election?
Not before the caucus. If I'm reading the timeline correctly, the recommendation will be made in June, so if the incumbent is defeated in May, that's a message to the sitting members. I don't know if it will work, because I think they've already decided and this is all for show, but frankly, there are lots of reasons not to vote for the incumbent and there are two qualified challengers. And we should have been voting all along, in higher numbers that the old reliables. That's how this works. He who pays the piper calls the tune.
Also, it couldn't hurt to give feedback via engage. Seems like the Kenmore site is the least terrible, and most flexible for the future, because it is the largest.
Are you on MONA? It would be great to get this info out to that group and on NextDoor.
MONA is non-political so couldn't organize anything to support/oppose this.
Is it against their terms to email the group about the issues/events though? Goodness knows I don't talk politics with some of my neighbors, but I do periodically email them about school-related stuff (like filling out the survey) because some of them don't have kids in the schools yet and are not as keyed in.
MONA can definitely let members know that this decision is being debated and how to be involved but they cannot advocate for one outcome over another.

Viva SALA! But, we don't have a cool listserv, so let's encourage our neighbors to the north to use theirs for a good cause.

HB doesn't have those neither does AT@CC, but I believe they are still a popular/viable option for many families.
It becomes an issue if that 4th high school has an assigned neighborhood vs. being an option/lottery school. People who choose HB/AT have decided the benefits of those programs are worth the trade-offs for the things you don't get. But, there would be a big outcry if 1/4 of the county is zoned to a HS that does not offer the same opportunities as other schools. Although, given space, I do think they'll have to be resigned to not having a 4th football stadium.
