IOW, GET INVOLVED.

(Former MPD officer here.) This is far truer than most readers of this board would ever believe. The lives many of these kids live is outside the comprehension abilities of middle/upper income people. You just wouldn't even believe some of the stories I could tell you.
So the PP is correct - "missing" has an entirely different context for low income urban girls than girls from wealthy suburban families.

The same Commander is on Fox 5 now.
Posting more. Her name is Commander Dickerson and she said that the majority of the teens missing are teens who voluntarily leave home.
I guess the concern would be if they are being recruited by gangs or traffickers - because that doesn't tend to end well for them. Or if these kids are just crashing at friends' houses and not telling their parents where they are (probably the case for many). Maybe some are just taking off on their own for some reason.
Maybe the police are trying to see if their is a connection to any of these disappearances (even if the teens wind up returning home, where were they?).
Could be all of that, but she didn't speak to those points. Her commentary just centered around bringing attention to missing teens. Which is a good thing.
Yes, I agree. The parents need to know that it isn't just a couple of kids running off. There are a fair number of kids disappearing for a while and then returning.
