PP, I'm not offended at all. I work for Sessions but not by choice; I'm a career trial attorney.

I wasn't entirely sold on IT and CMI. I liked CMI a lot more than IT, but sometimes I wonder if it's a matter of hype rather than actual results. AT is an excellent program for that age range and the only reason I'm not as enthused with AT is that we would have to lottery again.

I truly appreciate all of the feedback! We hope we win the lottery (literally).

There are virtually no safety schools on this list. Barnard is unlikely OOB as is Marie Reed. Maybe Shepard but I wouldn't hold my breath there either. We live in a petworth also and have known people who are happy at Truesdale for PK. If you don't mind a commute or have a back up plan it's fine.

Might as well take stokes off if you don't rank it 1. I'd move Apple tree to the bottom.

Hi--I'm the PP. We're actually at CMI and really happy there. I don't know that the open house is a great measure, but if there were things you heard there that made you think it would not be a good fit for your DD, combined with your preference for immersion, I won't try to sell you on it!

Appletree--of all the schools on your list, you have the best chance of getting in there with a middling lottery draw. But no, I would not rank it lower than you have it if you truly prefer it over Stokes, SSMI, Barnard, EL Haynes, and Marie Reed. You'll need to lottery again for K of course, but if the school is a better fit for your DD than those you've listed below, stick with it. Though I would just take Stokes off the list altogether if you prefer AT to it--it's nearly impossible to get into and unless you have incredible luck and it's first or second on your list, there's no much point ranking it so low, and below schools that don't need such a good draw. Might as well drop EL Haynes, too if you prefer AT to it--it's "harder" to get in to than AT.

Can I ask what the attraction to Hyde Addison is? Do they offer a particular curriculum or approach? I know they'll be in their swing space and that commuting doesn't bother you, but if your job does move to NoMA and you have to get your DD to Georgetown, then get all the way over to NoMa... it better be a very very special place.

As for Shepherd's ranking on your list--truly, put those top ones in your order of preference. If you would rather she start Chinese or Spanish, keep your rankings. YY & MV are so hard to get in to that there's no sense ranking them any lower if they're your true #2 and #3.

If you take my advice and drop any schools from your list, I would add your IB as your #12. Unless there is absolutely no way you'll send her there, you may want to have something to at least consider if your number is a total bomb.

Keep in mind that if you're matched someplace, everything below it on the list is dropped. Stokes is also virtually impossible to get in to. With a decent lottery number you will surely get into Appletree, dropping everything below it. Understand if that is your true preference, but in terms of giving yourself some breathing room for safeties, you might as well drop EL Haynes, Stokes, and Shining Stars--a match with Appletree is far, far more likely than the charters you've ranked below it. Appletree is the closest thing you have listed to a safety .

Where are your commutes? I would put Creative Minds over Two Rivers for a non-bilingual charter, but you may have ruled out CMI for other reasons and/or you commute to NoMa.

+1 CMI, ITS or Lee over Twi Rivers for commute purposes unless you commute that direction. Or Bridges which is next door to DCB.
