It is not paid. You are under contract for somewhere around 190 days per year. By comparison, I am not under contract, but am paid for 260 days per year, but I have 33 days of PTO. You do not get paid the days you don't work. They might average the paychecks so you get paid for 12 months, but you are 100% free to do almost anything you want over the summer. I am not.
