Isn't Chantilly up there as well?
Not really.

Um, ok! Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Honestly, past TJ there aren't any material differences between the HSs aside from materialism. They are all good schools.

All fcps schools have the same curriculum. The only real difference is the ses of the student body. Sat scores correlate with household incomes. Period. Langley and McLean are full of VERY rich people. Their kids have incredible advantages from the very beginning.
There are very few fcps schools that normal families would NOT feel comfortable sending their children to. Honestly, you buy the best house you can in a place you can reasonably afford.
We live in Chantilly pyramid. All 3 levels of public schools are in our neighborhood and well regarded. My child has access to the same curriculum and fcps resources as all other children in our county. We aren't rich, but we do ok and live a decent suburban life. We have a roof over our heads, food on the table and clothes on our backs. More than many can claim. We never will be able to afford langley or McLean, and that's just fact. I don't think it is as important in this county to be at the "top" school. Just being in fcps already puts your child at an advantage vs lots of other school Systems in the country.

Anonymous wrote:TJ doesn't count because it's a test-in school, so Langley followed by McLean.

I believe McLean is now #2 behind TJ and Langley fell quite a bit. It might have to do with the fact that Langley home values are falling due to people not wanting to live out there anymore
You must be referring to the US News ratings, which are very sensitive to minor variations in the percentage of students taking and passing AP/IB exams. TJ will always be #1, but in any given year Langley, McLean, Madison, Oakton, Woodson or George Mason could be #2.
