We used to live in a row house, and our neighbor's cat would chase mice into our house. Our dachshund was an excellent mouser, but we ended up calling the Orkin man to come seal up the holes.

We have had four cats. One would sit and watch the mice, another would run away, the third would chase and kill it, and the fourth would feign disinterest when she had an audience but then would quietly murder it later. Two hated strangers, one couldn't care, and the last never met a cable repairman or plumber she didn't instantly love and want to follow everywhere. I have given up on trying to understand cat psychology.

The only constant is this: if you want a cat to do something, guaranteed it won't do it. Little buggers.

Unless that cat has a mouser gene it is not going to catch a mouse. One of my cats caught one once, and he was super lazy so we were very surprised.

Agree that the cat will be freaked out in your house, and might end up getting into the traps.

Omg this is so true. We had 2 cats growing up - from the same mom but different litters. The older one played tough, was in good hunting shape (never got fat or lazy, always had a ton of energy) up until the end of her life, chased after everything and never killed a single thing. They were both indoor cats but she always wanted to get out and fight with rabbits and squirrels in our yard - not one kill. The younger one was a fat, inbred, lazy thing until my mom started letting her out in the yard (fenced but pretty large) and she'd bring all kinda crap to the door. Mice and birds, but also a headless mole one time - so gross - and even a few chipmunks. There's no way of knowing!

If you have poison out, be careful. The cat could eat it.
