np, yes, 11 was in the range of normal.30 years ago. That is when both my mother and I got our periods. There is always a range. Perhaps you should check your condescending tone.

There is a difference between average & normal. 11 was not the average age for a first oeriod a generation of more ago but it was (& is) well within the range of normal.

Its YOU who is ignorant. Normal and The Norm are different things. But yes, girls are menstruating earlier and its a trend that has been going on some time now.

I remember I had armpit hair around age 10.5 but didn't get my period for another 2 years.

I agree. By the age of 11 I was well developed .
I would be more surprised if a 10 year old had not started puberty.

I was 10 when i started puberty. My daughter was 9 when she needed a bra and she started her periods two months after turning 11. She's now 12 and all the girls in her circle of friends have periods.

My mother was 11 in 1960 , reaised that sounded strange. Most of my friends had their period by 13, 15 definitely seems extremely old.

I'm 43. Most of my friends got it by 12 or 13 though my best friend was 15. That was considered late. No one was concerned about the 12 year olds.

Sorry to tell you, but it was not normal. Maybe in your town it was normal, but not around the world. My sister got hers when she was 12 and it was a major concern for Dr. and she probably got it because she had immune disorder and additional issues. I got it when I was 15, and that was considered normal. I am 46.

Yes, 15 is older. I was 12 when I got mine. My sister was 12 and she got hers. However she was very, very private about it and did not tell our mother. And she was 14 I remember my mom asking the doctor about it because she thought my sister still do not have her period And I told her at that time that oh yeah, she's had her period for a couple of years now. And the doctor and my mother were relieved

FWIW (I'm almost 40), I started getting boobs at about 8.5 or 9 years old. I didn't get my period until nearly 13. I ended up pretty average, with a lot of T&A. My mom was both malnourished and has a completely different body type-- she got her period at 15 and ended up a B cup.

We also give our kids growth hormones via all the milk and dairy products they consume.

It seems like nutrition would have an impact. We are taller and chubbier than women from 150 years ago too.

My 10 year old has started getting breasts and pubic hair so I asked her about this question and she said all the girls in her class have started puberty, some are more developed than others and there are five that have started their periods.
