Whaaaat? You crazy. Women's automatics are the exception, not the rule. Sheesh.

Authentic or not why would they need to replace a gift after 10 years? That's insane.

A luxury watch is automatic - it would not have required batteries, in any event.

This. I'd be mortified if my spouse actually brought it up to them.

+1000

I would not have brought it to their attention unless they specifically mentioned not seeing you wear it anymore. I'm sure it's made them feel like they wasted an awful lot of money and completely embarrassed that they got ripped off.

And no, tell your husband they do not owe you anything.

You wore it for 10 years. Let it go.

This. Get a second opinion on the authenticity of the watch. But ILs don't owe you a replacement.

If DH did this there may be more to the story than you know OP. Perhaps this isn't the first time his parents have gifted a luxury item that wasn't quite as lux as represented.

I would let it go, but if I felt some compulsion to "get to the bottom of it" (I wouldn't), I would ask DH about his reaction.

How is it even an issue? You got a gift, it no longer works and you are demanding a new one? WOW, just wow.
