I wish there was a Pilot type class offered 5 days per week for 4 year olds. My son does not do well in self-contained classes but does need extra support. He is currently in a Pilot type class (out of state) and its a happy medium for him. Self-contained PEP classes are basically the only option for the 4 and 5 yr olds?

Oh okay is Collab the same as Pilot where the non IEP kids pay and the IEP kids are free?

My experience with Collab is that they pull the non IEP kids from the pre K program which is income based. In our school, there was not an option for a non IEP community family to pay a fee to be in the Collab class.

I think she means private therapies. Which is a complete different subject. Most kids in PEP get private therapy, and no one is claiming that PEP takes the place of private therapies. So it's kind of a ridiculous post.

No, we did everything privately. The county gave us a huge run around and we were not impressed with what we saw. We gave up and did private only. We did preschool, speech and ot. Now getting public services at school and they are terrible. We still do private.

So, you didn't qualify for PEP, never tried PEP, but you are here to tell us that private school is so much better than PEP. Okay. We will give that all the weight it deserves.

My child would have qualified, no question but every time we called, we got a run around. It made more sense to go private. The parents we talked to who did both PEP and private were far happier with private over PEP. We are now at public with an IEP and the services are worthless compared to what we get privately. PEP is fine, some classrooms are very good but it depends on the child and their needs. We found I & T and later Child Find when we did try to go PEP very difficult to work with and they kept losing our paperwork and not returning calls. We gave up. We found affordable ways to do it and fought our insurance for about a year to cover speech, OT and PT after private paying. It was also a huge fight to get an IEP when we went to public. We had tons of documentation and they refused it initially. Its probably just an issue with our home school.

I think PEP Classic and PEP Pilot are both like that, but PEP INC definitely was not.

Perhaps PP who actually has no experience with PEP but just came here to tell us that she was able to do private SN school, private preschool and private therapies can fill you in? Or maybe not, and she should show herself out of this thread.
