The data needed for the report should have been collected and analyzed some time ago as it was necessary to support the allegations that have been publicly made linking the hacks to the Russians. Putting that data into a report shouldn't take much time at all.

I'm assuming perhaps naively that a direct order from the Commander in Chief to prepare such a report would involve a comprehensive review from the top down and the bottom up of every scrap of information, data, analysis, and then subject it to intensive scrutiny, and re-analysis.

As you point out correctly, there is very little meat on this turkey leg.

Hopefully Obama has more information than has been released to the public. But, what has been released is nothing but unsupported assertions.

Clearly to the extent the report says anything or anyone was hacked, it was solely a "political party," which is a private organization. Nothing in the report states that the hacking of the political party influenced the outcome of the election. Nothing in the report states that the purpose of the hacking was to assist Trump in getting elected.

So in other words the Russians hacked the DNC and John Podesta by sending phony links and then the Russians publicly disclosed the information they obtained.
