Oh, I think I like you. Yes, it lends toward the liberal, democratic bent. Yet, it is conservative in many other ways. FWIW, I attended an all woman's college, and I would love for my son to attend Morehouse, an all male institution. I find there is value for single-sex schools for both males and females.

Who says men aren't going into these fields? What do you suggest that we do if they don't want to be nurses, social workers or ballet dancers? Believe it or not, I've seen plenty of men in these jobs and if they are smart and want to do them than no one will stand in their way. This is not true for women who were banned from college, law school, medical school etc and then when they were allowed then they weren't hired because they were taking jobs away from men.

Here is my short answer: poor, white men! I feel so sorry for you. Let us find a safe space for you and get a nice warm blanket so you can soothe yourself. One last thing we have had 45 presidents, one black president, 43 white presidents and ZERO women. You have some nerve.

Nice rant, but ultimately meaningless. I'm not looking for a frat house. There are plenty of them, and I find modern fraternities disgusting. You've got to understand that I absolutely reject the concept of societal "equality." The only true equality we all have is as image-bearers of God. Equality in society is a progressive pipe-dream. Hierarchy is a natural part of society, and no one is ever equal. Everyone has a role/place in society. When I say that I'm an anti-feminist, I'm saying that I'm a strong advocate of traditional gender roles. I believe that if a man makes enough money to shelter, feed, and clothe the family, the place of a woman is in the home, raising the kids and keeping house. I know this view makes me seem like a monster on DCUM, but have some tolerance. We can respectfully disagree without insults and name-calling. I'm by no means the only one who holds this type of anti-feminist view. The vast majority of Confessional Protestants( I am one) and Trditional Catholics agree with me. I don't know what you mean when you call me "anti-humanist", but I'm certainly not a humanist in the modern sense of the word. I base my worldview on the Bible, not on progressive ideals. Look into what 19th century Oxford was like, and you'll see what an ideal men's college would look like. No such college exists today. By the way, I'm not an "angry" guy at all. I was pleasantly surprised that my DD was interested after visiting a women's college. It may end up a safety but one that she would like and I think would be a great fit for her. So glad we visited, she was initially opposed to the idea.

Private colleges and universities are exempt from Title IX's ban on sex discrimination. So, Paleo, with your middling grades and mediocre scores, be glad you are a male and not a female applicant.

Bryn Mawr is still alive and well, and competitive.

MHC (that's Mount Holyoke for those not familiar with the 7 sisters). 2 sisters are Smithies, another is a fellow MoHo, cousin transferring to Smith (yes, we're a 7 sister family). No MHC is doing just fine financially, as is neighboring Smith. Both are generous with financial aid, both remain competitive despite being SAT optional. Some of the sisters (including MHC) refuse to share some data with the college board so it messes with rankings but...relevant points: very high retention rates and very high (as in 80%) number of grads who go on to get graduate degrees in their fields. Finally, more than 15 years out, I'm still friends with former classmates, actually more like sisters. And my 7 sister professional network (because we stick together) is a thing of beauty.
