We are huge game board and card players in our house. Our youngest is 7 and has just turned the corner on playing games 8 and older. Some even say 12 and older but she can easily play.

7 and up:

Say Anything
Whoonu
Word Snag
Uno Attack
Spot It
Fast Flip
Wits and Wagers
Sushi Go
Dr. Eureka
Quirkle
Pictopia (we have Disney)
Zigity
SET (still a little young to be super fast against adults/teens)
Cadoo

10 and up

Q-Bitz
Timeline
Dutch Blitz
Ratuki
Five Crowns
Wizard
Catch Phrase (electronic)
Taboo
Scattegories
Baulderdash
Banangrams

Some games we have combined Junior versions with the adult to make it fun for large family gatherings.

Tribond, Outburst, Trivial Pursuit, and Guesstures,

Hope this helps!

Apples to apples is the best game possible for younger kids.

Sushi Go is a must have though. Little kids can play even if they don't grasp the strategy but it has enough complexity to make it interesting for adults.

Catan Jr. is the only one of the "kids" board games we own that DH and I actually enjoy playing with our kids. Good for 4-5+, I think. No reading required, or math beyond 1+1, I think.

Memory
Kerplunk
Guess Who
Uno
Go Fish

Candyland, Chutes and Ladders, and Old Maid make me want to pull my hair out.

Since she had us playing board games all last evening I will add that Hi Ho Cherry-o makes me want to cry tears of boredom and I tried desperately to convince her that it's time for that one to go away as it's meant for younger kids, but no dice.

We did play Trouble and War last night, which were fun.

I'm so glad to see people mentioning Ticket to Ride!
Santa is bringing it for my 7 year old who loves board games.

My 4 and 6 year old like traditional games (Uno, checkers, chess, candy land, chutes and ladders, trouble), but we also have loved Zingo (this one is especially easier for my 4 year old to stay with).

I also like playing Spot It, Trouble and Busytown with my 5 year old.
Sorry is ok
I loved Guess Who as a child but hate when DC pulls it out. The game is over too quickly and the questions get repetitive when we play several times in a row.

I have to say that we all love Spot It!

Qoridor. My son could beat at a young age if I not paid 80 pct attention. It is a real game you can still play later. Abstract reasoning and special relations.

We really like Rummikub (son is 7 and likes math / numbers)- this game is fun for adults too.

Sushi Go is a lot of fun.

Battleship (we have the Star Wars version)- this gets a little boring for adults.

Monopoly (son loves to trap loving grandparents into playing for a long time..........)
