Our OT specifically worked on this with our DD. It helped a lot.

OP here. Thanks for the various comments and suggestions - and clarifications. Taking him to the OT/PT - and will work on some 'falling practice'. I *think* it is something along the lines of what Colleen above mentioned about vestibular issues - and bi-lateral coordination/connection (he had delayed crossing midline when did OT tests at age 3-4 and the on the low but range). I was wrong about his balancing, which was good, but the hoping on one foot & distance jumping is a thing. He does seem to 'lead with his head' - physically, which seems to relate with a reliance on his head & visual, etc. He has gotten good at some other sports too (baseball, gym hockey, etc) - but maybe up the same alley as soccer. Appreciate all the information and thoughts. (he definitely does not have any indications of ADD, ADHD, autism, or some of the other neurological conditions mentioned - but was thinking there may be some where the diagnosis is harder or delayed or not as apparent in day-to-day functioning. As of now, doesn't seem to have any intellectual disabilities but keeping an eye out - doing fine in school, but young still).
