If it's on the nose, particularly, Biore strips can work really well.
A couple of tips:
Get the Biore brand. Don't try to save money with off-brands. Store knockoff brands do not work nearly as well -- just trust me on that!
Have your son wash his face but not with a scrub, just water and a bland cleanser like Cetaphil. Rinse really well. Then get a washcloth and get hot water on it, wring it a little and hold it over his whole nose for a while until it just starts to cool down - then heat it with water again, hold again. This is basically just a quick steaming to open up the pores and it really does make the Biore strip much more effective.
Apply the strip. He may need to wet the strip itself, not just his nose, and more than the directions say; it may feel a little slimy and too wet but if he sits and watches TV and fans his face with a magazine or whatever, it will dry. Wait until it's VERY dry, totally dried out and stiff; that could be 10-15 minutes but it works best if it dries totally like paper mache! Then pull it off gently and slowly. It may take a couple of times but it really can help. He should do it weekly.
