I always knew that Travolta and Cruise were Scientologists but after seeing this show I don't know if I can ever go to one of their movies ever again.

couldn't agree with you more. I was always neutral about Remini. Liked her on King of Queens but then kind of forgot about her. After watching her documentary, I have a new found respect for her. I credit part of her "I don't give a shit" attitude to being raised in Brooklyn. Love that about her.

+2 she is a free woman! they can talk crap and spread whatever they want to but she took back her self in every sense of the word. and seems to genuinely want to help people get out and/or be treated right.

Here's my question: everyone in Scientology apparently goes along with the craziness because they now believe that Scientology is the savior of humanity and does so much good, important work. WHAT exactly do they point to as this work? I've never seen anything pointing out charitable acts or its members using their superior mind capacity to effect positive change. It just seems focused on self, which is fine to do, but then why claim everything is done to protect this religion that will save mankind? Tom Cruise claims a Scientologist can look at the world and "be effective." How so, and how is it helpful?

They prey on dissatisfaction, as do other door to door type you know who). One Scientology lady once called my house from one of their call centers. She went on and on about the grave horrors and disappointments of life as if everybody she chats with jumps right in for the bitch session like a feeding frenzy. I let her let out enough rope and go on about it, and then when she got so far as to start talking about how terrible people are to you, I finally stepped in and said "How sad for you!" and said that I think people can wonderful and that there's lots of beauty out there and how truly sorry I felt for her that she couldn't seem to see any of it at all. She was stumped and speechless and I felt at that moment that it was me getting through to her rather than her getting through to me. I hope she moved on and out of it.

Second recommendation for the book Going Clear. The movie was good but book gives you a lot more info. A great read.

I could understand the "audits" being like therapy IF Scientology believed in therapy and had licensed psychologists conducting said audits. But the people conducting them are not required to have any true qualifications and are not necessarily impartial.
