The women who clean our house leave their street shoes on the porch outside and wear other shoes inside. The main woman has been w/us for 10 years and just did it - wasn’t asked. The pair we had before her did too. I think it’s gotten pretty mainstream.

From a safety standpoint cleaners need to wear rubber sole shoes so that they’re not slipping or risk getting their feet hurt with chemicals or stubbing them while cleaning. Not slippers, not covers but rubber sole shoes.

I don’t wear shoes inside and neither do my house cleaners. They take their shoes off at the door. I may or may not have asked them to do this initially. Now they do it routinely.

I never thought to address the issue but mine has always taken her shoes off when she first enters the house. I don't really care if people wear their shoes or not but I keep a basket at the front door so that my husband and kids have a place to put shoes (more for wrangling purposes as they will just throw them anywhere otherwise). So maybe that made her think I was strict on no shoes.

I have never heard of a cleaner that removes their shoes. That is wackadoodle.

Our cleaning service changes from outdoor shoes to ones only worn indoors.

+1. Being barefoot while doing manual labor for hours is a recipe for long-term health problems.

Our cleaning lady wears shoes but she mops and vacuums her way out of every room. The house is cleaner than when she arrives.

We no longer have horses, cows and pigs on the streets that were common in the 1700s.

People need arch support and foot protection while they are doing manual labor (cleaning your house). You are crazy to suggest it is reasonable for them to do this barefoot, in flip flops, or in shoe covers. Clean your own house.
