Uh, it didn't happen at all like it was described in the OP. It wasn't in a lunchroom and no parent was involved in the physical fight. There's an allegation of a racial slur, but no evidence.

So, something happened. But certainly not what was described. It also sounds very personal -- an ongoing feud -- not some random case where a white dad spouted off hate speech at a random student.

We vote for John Vihstadt. We stand behind John when he works the levers of County policy to take down the affordable housing mafia. Attacking building height is one great method. Having a "once a year" process to give out the affordable housing money is another--so you don't have flexibility to take advantage of immediate opportunities.

John's a lawyer specializing in housing finance, both for-profit and non-profit. And he's a REALLY good one at that. So he's perfect to destroy the housing people while being pleasant enough to win the social liberals who form the majority of Arlington.

There are a handful of Trump voters in our $$$ neighborhood. Common traits are: old, crotchety, not-so-sharp.

None of this matters, OP. I've told my children you will never, ever convince someone else they are supporting socially undesirable things like racism or xenophobia. You just can't. They will rationalize it to the end of time and will accuse you of being thin-skinned, weak, etc. It's an exhausting and losing proposition. I've told my kids that they need to understand that there are a lot of people who have zero problems supporting racist or xenophobic politicians because they have nothing to lose. They won't be targeted and they figure their interests matter more than anyone else's.

It doesn't mean it's wrong. It just means you have to be careful about who you let in, who you trust, and who is going to be worth the time. Don't bother trying to convince someone they are wrong, just take advantage of the screwed up system, make as much money as possible playing the rigged game and cash out somewhere pleasant.

Let people fight over stupid crap while you are playing the game to get ahead. It was never about these things anyway. It's the beginning of a massive shift in wealth and you better be on the right side of the fence.
