A teacher here who would love candles or lotions (not the Uber scented ones full of chemicals). A gift card or Amazon card of some sort would also be helpful. Movie tickets? Or a bottle of wine. Not appropriate but I know some parents do it!

I agree, I don't find it tacky at all.
If teachers do, maybe they can send out a press release via the school with their accepted gifts.

I'm one of the skin allergy teachers. I didn't mean to sound ingrateful and anything is appreciated. To echo the others, a handwritten note or email is the best gift. As for gift cards, look for places that are around the school. We have a Starbucks a block away and teachers can always buy other things besides coffee. Many stop by and get a sandwich if they forgot lunch.

..there's a lot of people here sensitive or allergic to stuff.
I'm a teacher, I use every gift...be it lotions, mugs, chocolates...if it's something I already have then I might regift it.
You can't go wrong with cash or gift cards.

I got 20 coffee mugs last year and I don't even drink coffee or tea at work. I finally realized it was because my team shares a keurig machine and it's kept in my room since I have this extra counter area in the back. Parents must have seen that on back to school night and made a note.

My high school kids each have 7 teachers. I ordered each teacher a $10 Chipotle gift card. Not certain that they'll all love Chipotle, but there is one near the school and I figure a lunch on us might be a good gift.
