Yes, you should go. Funerals are for the living. Your stepchildren will have more respect for you.

As your step kids what they would like. Tell them that you are happy to support them however they think is appropriate. Same situation happened with my grandparents. Grandma died and grandpas second wife was planning to come to funeral and adult stepchildren were furious. Really, just ask them what they prefer. You can provide support in ways other than attending the funeral.
