I am a man. I once returned underwear that I wore. There were several pairs that came in a box. When I washed them after wearing them they shrunk a lot. However I assumed the store was not going to sell them to someone else.

Yes, because they usually smell funny or have weird wrinkles from shipping. Basically the only things I don't always wash before wearing are regular tops and bottoms/dresses that I buy in a store, and anything that comes pre-packaged (but I will wash if it smells funny). Even then I sometimes still wash first.

Yes of course. There's excess dye and sizing in the fabrics. That's why new clothes often smell funny. There could be chemical treatments for water resistance or wrinkle resistance, (aka the "no iron" shirts), that leave residue. All of this really should be washed out before you wear it, even if you aren't particularly sensitive to chemicals.

Just out of curiosity, if you bought a pair of underwear, took them home and tried them on, would it bother you if you found out that another person had previously purchased, tried on, then returned that exact same pair of underwear? Or do you not mind indirect contact with a stranger's vagina?

Do you know what a vagina is?

Hey, if this person can return their underwear, anyone (including OP) should be able to!

4. Why Would You Take Them Back?!

I'll start with my grossest: A woman comes in with some panties and said they didn't fit and she wanted to return them for cash because she had already bought the correct size elsewhere. She had a receipt and plopped a Walmart bag down on the counter. Inside this bag were 6 crusty crotched, s--t stained panties that were a biohazard from six feet away. Needless to say I did not touch them. I paged the manager on duty and he tells me to just TAKE THEM BACK despite being very nasty. Processed the return and she happily left the store with her $8
