You sure you got the right guy when you googled? Because it seems strange that he'd tell you he was a doctor when a simple google search would reveal otherwise.

I have a JD and on applications that don't relate to legal work I will, sometimes, mark Doctorate if JD isn't an option.

^In fact, guidelines indicate that if they must indicate Physical Therapist if they use the term Dr or Doctor to describe what they do.

If asked what they do for a living should they say "I'm a doctor"? Answer: absolutely not. They should say "I'm a Doctor in Physical Therapy".

This happened to me. Guy said he was a lawyer. In fact, he had graduated law school but failed the bar and was working as a paralegal. One of the attorneys from my firm went to work at his organization, so he came clean to me. I wasn't crazy about him for other reasons, but I really didn't like the lying, or the implication that I wouldn't have been interested in a paralegal. He passed the bar at some point and actually became a lawyer.

A PA is a great profession. Requires less investment then getting an MD. Very good pay in DCUM land with out a lot of the headaches that come with being an MD.
The ROI is really good, and like a NP - you can get work most any place in the country.

Some of the best doctors I've had have been physicians assistants. They've been as knowledgeable as (and more attentive than) the doctors they "support."

Too bad if he was dishonest. I'd be proud to date a PA but not a liar.

And agree with above poster!

So weird he would say that (if it's true he's a PA). PA is actually a great career- decent money and PAs are taking over a lot of the roles Drs traditionally had, plus less student debt and normal (ish) work hours. PA wouldn't be a deal breaker but lying definitely is. Huge red flag.

Nothing wrong with dating a PA, but yes, he lied. Not a good sign.

PhDs don't call themselves doctors by convention.
PAs are not medical doctors.
