I attended an all girl's college in Virginia in the early 90s and I can tell you that hordes of my classmates dressed like Hans Solo then. Not so much the first picture that someone provided, but close: tight and dark bottoms (either leggings or jeans), tall flat boots, long-sleeved shirt (usually cream or white) and the black vest. It is NOT a new look... it's a "classic modern" look for the the equestrian, monied set. I think many women now have morphed that look into something looser/more hippish with the infinity scarves, and more colorful versions of the bottoms, plus looser jackets instead of the black vest. I wouldn't call that Hans Solo look, but maybe a derivative look.
I moved away from here after college but returned (well, to DC) about 8 years ago and I was actually SHOCKED to see everyone (young and old alike) still wearing the same look.
