I'm going to start working on this. I don't ever say anything to her but it does hurt my feelings. That's a me issue and I need to disengage.
I'd take a similar route except I'd try to convince her of the polar opposite of her behavior. All the time... so when she mentions this again I'd say "I've been wanting to talk to you about this... why DO you work? Are you poor? You really should sit home and do NOTHING... I really mean it... It leaves so much more time and energy to be a good mother and have a lot of sex, too... it is life changing... more veal...?"

Don't engage and just give very short responses: "this works for us!" or "interesting perspective!" or "hmmmm" or "that's certainly one way to look at it." Don't get substantive, keep it superficial, become emotionally disinterested in her and her opinions. You'll be happier and it's also your best revenge.

OP ignore electronic communications. Never defend or explain yourself. If she says something in person smile and walk away. If she persists say "wow you've spent a lot of time worrying about this!"
